TVPBC EVALUATIONS FAQ
How do I sign up?
When will I know what day of the Evaluation Week I will play?
- You will be notified by email by your Coordinator once the schedule has been set approximately 1 week ahead of evaluations.
Do I have a choice of playing in the Plex or outdoor?
- We do not want the weather to dictate if evaluations can take place; therefore, Evaluations will always be held in the Plex. Furthermore, trying to manage cancellations would be a nightmare.
How long will the evaluation take?
- Skills Assessment and Ghost Doubles take approximately 1 hour.
Will I be able to warm-up? When should I arrive?
- It is your responsibility to be warmed up and ready to go.
What is rally scoring?
- Rally scoring is used to quicken Ghost Doubles games.
- Each “play”, “serve” ends in a point.
What is ghost doubles?
- Ghost Doubles simulates playing pickleball with four people only with two. Rally scoring is used in ghost doubles, which means that every ball ends in a point.
- The contestant will be playing against a person in the level that they are striving to move to.
- Players begin in their right quadrant. The contestant begins the serve. When the play ends, the rally winner gets the point, the serve and moves to the other quadrant. The loser of that rally stays in the same quadrant. Play can be diagonal or straight.
- Three (3) games to 11 win by 1 are played.
- Scores for the games are important.
When will I know the result of my Evaluation?
- It will take a few days to put all scores through the calculator. Hopefully, the process will become less cumbersome, but for now probably a week.
If I’m not successful in advancing can I try again?
- Yes, but you will have to wait 60 days.
What if I need to cancel?
- We understand life gets in the way sometimes.
- Notify the Evaluation Director and your Coordinator as soon as possible, TVPBCEvalDir@gmail.com.
- There may be an alternate signed up that we can put in your place.
What if I don’t pass; can I retake only the Phase that I failed?
- No, ALL Phases must be retaken.
